FBI Investigates Targeted Shooting at Dallas ICE Office

Federal authorities are investigating a shooting at the Dallas field office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described as a deliberate attack on law enforcement.

Noem dismissed suggestions that the gunman’s motives were unclear. She warned that inflammatory political rhetoric and misleading media coverage are increasing risks for ICE officers and their families.

“This was not random,” Noem said. “People don’t etch messages into shell casings and fire them into buildings for fun. That’s not normal behavior. That’s evil.”

She emphasized that ICE agents are part of the communities they serve. “Their families live here. Their kids go to school here. They want safety just like everyone else,” she said.

Noem also criticized how media outlets have portrayed recent attacks on ICE, calling the coverage false and damaging to agents’ reputations.

She argued that hostile language from political leaders contributes to violence against law enforcement. Despite these challenges, she reaffirmed the Trump administration’s commitment to expanding ICE staffing and support.

The FBI has not yet released details about the shooter or the investigation’s progress. The incident has sparked renewed debate over the safety of federal agents and the impact of public discourse on law enforcement.
